After 10,000+ projects over the past fifteen years, we’ve developed a process that works.

Our approach to bookings is intended to create the best possible scenario for our writers and designers to deliver inspired work quickly and efficiently.

Our creatives are typically booked ten hour workdays, from 9am to 7pm in their local time zone.

Writers typically deliver an initial full draft within one working day, with additional time for revisions as needed.

For visuals, we plan for one day for visual research and one day for an initial layout, with additional time for revisions when schedule and budget allow.

Over the years, we’ve seen pitch budgets balloon with some jobs invoicing upwards of three to four days for more complex layouts.

Our designers work in whichever software is best for the director/production company, and we share the working files and image folders at the end of each booking so your team can make last-minute adjustments prior to submission.

We always recommend using familiar layout software to make sure agency revisions and final tweaks can be handled in-house.

When timelines are tight, we sometimes suggest a collaborative approach—bringing in multiple designers to tag-team the work and stay ahead of any last-minute fires.

If you’d like help with an upcoming project, send along boards, scripts, director, and schedule details—we’d love to get you set up with a helpful creative collaborator.

THE BETTERMENT SOCIETY STARTED IN 2011—BUILT BY:

  • Jason Bitner • Partner/Coordinator • Chicago

For decades, Jason has had a sharp eye for creative talent—a skill that continues to power The Betterment Society in its fifteenth year.

From co-creating the international indie phenomenon FOUND Magazine to curating fifty writers and musicians for his anthology Cassette From My Ex (St. Martin’s Press), Jason has built a career on discovering authentic, original voices and putting them in the right context to do their best work.

That same instinct is now applied to The Betterment Society’s roster: a carefully assembled group of standout writers and designers, selected for both taste, inspiration and reliability.

He also produced Joe Beshenkovsky’s directorial debut, the feature documentary LaPorte, Indiana, based on his own found-photo book of the same name—a love letter to the Midwest, where he continues to live and raise his daughters.

His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The A.V. Club, The Guardian, NPR, and The New Yorker.
